A Butterfly Rose pattern cloisonne cremation urn of Chinese manufacture. The vessel is constructed with a metal body decorated using the cloisonne technique, where vitreous enamels are fired into cells created by applied brass or copper wires. The exterior features a white ground decorated with a dense, all-over pattern of gilded ruyi or cloud scrolls. The primary decorative motifs consist of several multi-coloured butterflies in shades of blue, yellow, and black, alongside a large pink floral bloom, likely a rose or peony. The urn has a bulbous body with wide shoulders tapering to a narrow base, topped with a matching domed lid. The rims of the mouth and lid are finished in polished gold-tone metal. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.

Condition report:
The urn is in good overall condition. The enamel remains bright and intact with no evidence of loss, pitting, cracks, or bruising. The wirework is well-defined throughout. There is minor surface tarnish and light wear to the gilded metal rims, consistent with age and handling.
