Lot 142: A Trio of 19th-Century Staffordshire Copper Lustre Earthenware Jugs
A trio of small earthenware creamers finished in a metallic copper lustre glaze, characteristic of 19th-century Staffordshire production. The group consists of a matching pair of relief-molded jugs and one banded jug. The pair features high-relief scenes of two dancers in traditional attire, decorated with hand-painted turquoise scrolls around the rims and distinctive scrolled handles with thumb rests. The third vessel is a bulbous jug featuring a central cobalt blue band adorned with a copper lustre vine pattern. All three items have flared, footed bases.

Condition report:
The items exhibit signs of age and use consistent with 19th-century earthenware. There is visible wear and tarnishing to the metallic lustre finish, most notably on the cobalt-banded jug. Minor losses to the turquoise hand-painted accents are present on the relief-molded pair. The bodies show fine surface crazing under the glaze, but no significant chips, cracks, or repairs are visible.
