Lot 131: A Collection of Royal Crown Derby Derby Posies Pattern Bone China
A collection of English fine bone china manufactured by Royal Crown Derby. The group consists of five vessels and two saucers, including one scalloped-edge dessert plate, two teacups with matching saucers, and two cylindrical mugs. The pieces are decorated in the Derby Posies pattern, which features varied colourful floral sprays and posies against a white ground. The dessert plate displays a secondary motif of grey stars and dots. Each piece is finished with a hand-applied gold gilded rim.
The items bear a red printed factory backstamp on the base. The mark includes the Royal Crown Derby crown and cypher device and is transcribed as: ROYAL CROWN DERBY, ENGLISH BONE CHINA, Derby Posies, (c), XLIII. To the left is a small red character P and a dark mark resembling an R. At the top right is an incised or painted mark resembling an S. The Roman numeral date code XLIII indicates a manufacture date of 1980.
Condition report:
The collection is in excellent condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs to any of the pieces. The gold gilding is bright and appears intact with negligible signs of wear.
