Buyer's Premium:

An early 19th-century stone china cabinet plate manufactured by the Staffordshire partnership Hicks & Meigh. The plate features a lobed and scalloped rim and is decorated in the Imari-influenced Grosvenor pattern. The central design is composed of a large pink cabbage rose, smaller polychrome floral sprigs, and stylized cobalt blue leaves highlighted with gilded veins. The wide border consists of a cobalt blue ground enriched with gilded foliate scrollwork, interspersed with four white-ground cartouches each containing a floral spray. The decoration is executed through a combination of transfer-printed outlines, hand-painted enamels, and gilding. The reverse is marked with an impressed circular stamp reading Improved Stone China HICKS & MEIGH. It also features a blue printed cartouche containing the pattern name GROSVENOR and the initials C. M. & H., alongside a hand-painted red enamel oriental-style seal mark.

Condition report:

The plate displays fine, all-over glaze crazing to both the front and back surfaces. There is minor rubbing and wear to the gilding, particularly at the scalloped rim. Several small, dark kiln firing spots are present on the reverse. The item is free from chips, cracks, or evidence of repair.
