Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
This lot comprises three silver coins from the UK, all dated 1920. The group includes a Florin, a Shilling, and a Silver Threepence silver fineness standard in British coinage, following the transition from sterling silver. All three pieces feature the King George V obverse. The Florin reverse features the crowned cruciform shields design, inscribed ONE FLORIN 19 20. The Shilling reverse is the crowned lion on crown type, inscribed FID: DEF: IND: IMP: 19 20 ONE SHILLING. The Silver Threepence reverse displays a crowned numeral 3 within an oak wreath, flanked by the date 19 20. Obverse inscriptions include GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND: IMP: on the Florin and Threepence, and GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX on the Shilling.
Condition report:
All coins are in circulated condition, showing moderate wear on the high points of the portraits and reverse designs. The Shilling exhibits notably heavy dark toning and surface patina compared to the Florin and Threepence. No evidence of cleaning or major surface damage is observed.
