A 1991 Royal Australian Mint uncirculated coin set commemorating the 25th anniversary of the introduction of decimal currency in Australia. The collection includes coins in bronze, cupronickel, and aluminium-bronze, comprising the 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 dollar, and 2 dollar denominations. The reverse designs featured are the feathertail glider, frilled-neck lizard, echidna, lyrebird, platypus, five kangaroos, and an Aboriginal elder. A commemorative dodecagonal 50-cent piece is included, featuring the Merino ram’s head design with the legend 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF DECIMAL CURRENCY and 50 FIFTY CENTS. This set includes the 1-cent and 2-cent pieces which were discontinued from general circulation shortly after this issue. The coins are housed in their original white card insert within a decorative green and black card sleeve illustrated with pre-decimal Australian currency motifs.
Condition report:
The coins are in uncirculated condition, retaining full original mint luster with no visible signs of handling or toning. The original card packaging and outer sleeve show minor shelf wear and light creasing at the corners and edges.
