Estimated price: £10 - £50

Buyer's Premium:

This lot consists of a group of UK coinage featuring a cased 1951 Festival of Britain commemorative crown. The crown is housed in a purple velvet-lined presentation box and features the St. George and the Dragon reverse design with the date 1951. Included is a Britain’s First Decimal Coins set in a blue Royal Mint folder, containing five uncirculated coins: the bronze half penny, one penny, and two pence, and the cupro-nickel five pence and ten pence, all bearing the Machin portrait of Elizabeth II. The lot also includes a rectangular decorative tin with a floral and geometric pattern containing an assortment of loose pre-decimal bronze and cupro-nickel coinage, including various pennies and halfpennies.

Condition report:

The 1951 crown and the decimal coin set are in uncirculated condition within their original packaging. The loose pre-decimal coinage shows typical signs of circulation including wear, surface scratches, and various stages of toning. The decorative tin shows light surface wear and age-related dulling to the finish.
