An antique hand-carved meerschaum tobacco pipe bowl depicting the bust of a woman in profile. The figure is depicted wearing a wide-brimmed hat featuring floral decoration and a ruffled collar. The meerschaum exhibits a light cream to tan patina throughout the carved surfaces. The item is housed within a custom-contoured presentation case lined with green plush fabric and finished with a dark brown textured exterior. This pipe is incomplete, missing the original detachable stem and mouthpiece. A wooden tenon is visible at the end of the shank. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or inscriptions on either the pipe or its case.
Condition report:
The meerschaum bowl remains in good decorative order with light surface wear and minor discolouration consistent with age and use. The item is incomplete as it lacks the original stem and mouthpiece. The presentation case shows significant signs of age and wear, including heavy scuffing and peeling to the outer material and a broken hinge.
