A hallmarked gilt sterling silver and multi-coloured enamel commemorative jewel for the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), produced by F.C. Parry Ltd to mark the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (1952-1977). The pendant features a central gilt-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing left, encircled by a white enamel border inscribed COMMEMORATING THE SILVER JUBILEE OF. The top of the pendant displays two small red enamel shields inscribed with the letters RA and OB, surmounted by a crown. The base of the pendant features a blue enamel bar inscribed QUEEN ELIZABETH II. The jewel is suspended from a vertical blue, white, and red striped ribbon, incorporating a gilt foliate middle bar and a decorative top suspension bar. The top bar is decorated with blue and white enamel panels showing the dates 1952 and 1977 flanking the royal cypher E II R. The reverse of the pendant features a set of English hallmarks including the Birmingham Assay Office anchor, the lion passant for sterling silver, the date letter c for 1977, and the special commemorative profile mark for the Silver Jubilee. Below the hallmarks is the maker’s mark for F.C. Parry Ltd, consisting of a shield-shaped mark with the characters F.C positioned above the letter P.


Condition report:

The item is in good overall condition. The gilding remains bright and the enamel is intact and vibrant throughout. The ribbon shows minimal signs of wear or fading. The pin and clasp mechanism on the reverse of the top bar are present and functional.
