Buyer's Premium:

A Daco subminiature camera, produced by Société Daco, Paris, circa 1940s. The body is constructed from black moulded Bakelite featuring an Art Deco influenced vertical ribbed decorative element to the lower front. The front faceplate displays the brand name Daco in a cursive script. The camera is fitted with a fixed lens and includes two control dials: the left dial settings for aperture at f/11, f/16, and f/22, and the right dial for zone focusing at 1.5 metres and 4 metres to infinity. A single viewfinder is positioned above the lens. This model was designed to utilise 17.5mm roll film. Included with the camera is its original brown leather ever-ready style carrying case, which features stitched construction and the Daco logo embossed to the front flap. A small white paper label with the handwritten note 1940s is adhered to the upper left corner of the camera body.

Condition report:

The Bakelite camera body is in good cosmetic condition, showing only minor surface dust and light handling wear consistent with age. The lens and viewfinder elements appear relatively clear. The mechanical functions, including the shutter and winding mechanism, have not been tested and the item is sold as-is. The leather case remains structurally intact but shows moderate signs of use, including scuffing to the edges, surface wear, and light cracking at the flex points. The metal clasp on the case exhibits minor tarnish.
