A cupro-nickel five-pound commemorative coin issued by the Bailiwick of Guernsey in 2010 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY 2010. The reverse depicts a Hawker Hurricane aircraft with colour application displaying squadron codes LE-D and a RAF roundel. A second uncoloured aircraft appears in the background. Reverse inscriptions read FIVE POUNDS and BATTLE OF BRITAIN 1940. The engraver initials IRB are visible on the obverse and DBF on the reverse.
Condition report:
The coin exhibits significant surface wear consistent with handling. Numerous hairline scratches and contact marks are present on both faces. The colour application on the reverse shows notable scuffing and loss of detail. The coin is not encapsulated and is in fine condition.
