Estimated price: £20 - £40

Buyer's Premium:

A large accumulation of postage stamps from the United Kingdom, primarily featuring issues from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The collection consists of a significant quantity of Machin head definitives in various denominations including 5p, 10p, 12p, 13p, and 17p, across a range of colours such as purple, green, blue, and brown. Also included are multiple commemorative issues depicting nature, heraldry, and Christmas themes. The stamps are predominantly housed in transparent glassine packets, with several items remaining on original paper fragments. The lot contains elements of postal history, including a commercial cover addressed to Messrs. Middleton Oliver Solicitors in Rotherham, Yorkshire, bearing a circular date stamp dated 28 July 1981. A further handwritten paper fragment mentions Sheffield.

Condition report:

The collection is in mixed condition, typical for a large postal accumulation. The used stamps generally exhibit circular date stamp (CDS) or machine cancellations. Some stamps appear to be mint-hinged or have disturbed gum. Centring and perforation quality vary throughout the lot, and occasional faults such as short perforations or minor creasing are to be expected in a lot of this nature.
