A mid-century modern rocking chair constructed from beech, designed in the Windsor style, in the manner of Karl Axel Adolfsson for Gemla or Ercol. The chair features a spindle-back construction with a steam-bent curved top rail. Ten tapered spindles form the backrest, with the two outermost spindles extending to form the supports for the shaped, out-swept arms. Each arm is further supported by two vertical spindles and rests on turned front supports. The chair is mounted on two simple curved rockers. It is fitted with a non-original, loose foam seat cushion covered in a light blue mesh fabric. No maker marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The chair is in well-used condition. The beech frame has a dry, pale appearance consistent with being stripped or bleached. There are visible surface marks, scuffs, and colour variation throughout the frame, particularly on the arms, turned supports, and rockers. The original seat webbing is missing, and the current foam cushion is a temporary replacement requiring replacement or reupholstery.
