A Chopper Mk3 model, manufactured by Raleigh. The bicycle features a steel frame finished in purple metallic paint with red and black graphics. It is designed in a traditional chopper configuration with high-rise ape-hanger handlebars and a padded high-back saddle supported by a chrome-finished sissy bar with decorative springs. The bicycle is equipped with a chain drive and a Sturmey Archer three-speed internal gear rear hub. The wheel set consists of a larger diameter rear wheel and a smaller diameter front wheel, both fitted with tyres featuring a red sidewall stripe. The head tube is fitted with a metallic Raleigh badge featuring the heron crest and blue banner. A large red and black decal reading CHOPPER is located on the down tube. The saddle features a white rear panel with a printed safety warning stating WARNING THIS BICYCLE IS NOT CONSTRUCTED TO CARRY PASSENGERS. Components include a silver-toned chain guard, front and rear mudguards, and a side-mounted kickstand.
Condition report:
The bicycle is in used condition with visible signs of age and wear. The purple paintwork shows some minor surface scuffs and marks consistent with regular use. There is significant surface rust and pitting visible on the chrome-plated rear mudguard. Light oxidation and minor pitting are also evident on the handlebars, sissy bar, and other bright metal components. The saddle is intact with some minor surface wear and light discolouration to the white section. The tyres show signs of age but remain intact. The mechanical systems, including the brakes and the Sturmey Archer gear hub, have not been tested for operation.
