A seven-coin proof set issued by the Falkland Islands in 1982, produced at the Royal Mint. The set comprises denominations of 50 pence, 20 pence, 10 pence, 5 pence, 2 pence, 1 penny, and 1/2 penny. Each coin is struck in cupro-nickel or bronze with a proof finish, featuring mirrored fields and frosted relief. The reverse designs depict various local fauna and flora, while the obverses bear the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The collection is presented in its original clear plastic display holder with a blue felt insert, housed within a blue presentation folder. The folder is silver-stamped with the text PROOF COINAGE OF THE FALKLAND ISLANDS 1982 and the territorial coat of arms featuring the motto DESIRE THE RIGHT.
Condition report:
The coins are in as-issued proof condition with sharp strikes. Significant multi-coloured surface toning in shades of blue, green, and gold is present on the 20 pence, 10 pence, and 5 pence denominations. The plastic display case and blue presentation folder show minor signs of shelf wear and handling but remain in good structural condition.
