Issued by The Royal Mint, this specimen is a Brilliant Uncirculated £2 coin commemorating the centenary of First World War aviation. The bimetallic coin consists of a cupro-nickel inner core and a nickel-brass outer ring. It is presented in its original “Before, Beyond, Above” illustrated fold-out card which includes historical context and photographs. The reverse includes the inscriptions 1914 – 1918 and THE WAR IN THE AIR, with the edge inscription THE SKY RAINED HEROES. This issue is part of a five-year series marking the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
