A collection of four United Kingdom silver proof piedfort one pound coins issued by The Royal Mint, spanning the years 1994 to 1997. This set features the heraldic emblems of the four constituent nations of the United Kingdom: the Scottish lion rampant (1994), the Welsh dragon (1995), the Northern Irish Celtic cross (1996), and the English three lions passant guardant (1997). Each coin is struck in sterling silver to proof quality and is a piedfort edition, meaning it is struck on a blank of double the standard thickness. The coins are housed in individual protective clear plastic capsules. Each coin is accompanied by its corresponding original Certificate of Authenticity. The collection is presented in a blue textured presentation box with a black velvet-lined base and a cream-coloured satin-lined interior lid. The interior lid features the Royal Mint crest and name printed in black. A central silver-toned rectangular plaque is set within the velvet base, inscribed with a crown symbol above the text Elizabeth R 1994-97.
Condition report:
The coins appear to be in excellent condition, remaining well-preserved within their original protective capsules. The presentation box and individual Certificates of Authenticity show only very minor signs of handling and remain in good order.
