The heptagonal cupro-nickel coin features the reverse design by Nigel Talbot, with the designer’s initials NT visible on the reverse. The coin is held within a dark blue card folder inscribed with UNITED KINGDOM and 50p in gold-toned lettering, including a silver holographic security label. The obverse bears the fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. This issue marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Charles Babbage.
