This lot comprises two figural brooches or lapel pins cast from a silver-toned metal with a matte finish, characteristic of pewter. The first brooch is designed as a front-facing, stylized elephant with large ears and a curved trunk, featuring horizontal ridged detailing on the trunk and legs. On the lower front of the elephant’s body, there are two raised characters resembling the mark JJ, which suggests an attribution to the Jonette Jewelry company. The second brooch depicts a seated teddy bear with outstretched arms, a rounded head, and a raised muzzle with a stitched-style nose and mouth design. These pieces are consistent with novelty giftware and costume jewellery produced in the late 20th century. The reverse of the items is not visible, and the specific type of pin mechanism cannot be confirmed.
Condition report:
Both brooches show signs of surface wear consistent with age and use, including fine scratches, minor pitting, and darkening of the metal in the recessed areas. There is a small dark spot or minor loss of surface finish on the tip of the elephant\'s right ear.
