A first UK stereo pressing of the self-titled double LP by The Beatles, widely known as the White Album, released on Apple Records in 1968. The lot consists of two 12-inch vinyl records housed in a top-opening laminated gatefold sleeve. The front cover features the title embossed in raised lettering and is uniquely numbered with a printed serial number of № 0127346 in the lower right-hand corner. The interior of the gatefold includes the track listing and four monochrome photographic portraits of the band members. Printing credits for the sleeve are attributed to Garrod and Lofthouse International Ltd. The vinyl records feature Apple labels with the text An E.M.I. Recording and Mfd. in U.K. indicating an early pressing. Catalogue numbers are PCS 7067 and PCS 7068. The matrix number YEX 709-1 is visible stamped in the runout groove of side 1. The set includes the original inner gatefold as illustrated but lacks the original posters and individual band photographs.
Condition report:
The laminated gatefold sleeve exhibits significant age-related foxing and heavy brown staining across the exterior and interior surfaces. There is visible wear to the edges, bumping to the corners, and creasing along the spine and openings. The vinyl records appear in good visual condition with light surface marks and some spindle trails evident on the center labels. The records have not been play-tested.
