A mid-20th-century novelty bar set designed in the form of an early open-top motor car, frequently attributed to designs inspired by a 1918 Ford. The piece is constructed from black-painted sheet metal with decorative gold-toned rope-twist trim and features two brass-toned trumpet-style lamps to the front. The vehicle is mounted on four cast metal spoked wheels with central brass-toned hubs. The interior compartment is lined with red velvet-effect fabric. An assortment of barware is housed within, including a square clear glass decanter with embossed foliate motifs and a gold-toned screw cap, several silver-toned metal shot beakers, and a cylindrical black leatherette case with a snap-fasten lid. Similar examples of this model typically incorporate a wind-up music box mechanism.
Condition report:
