A pendant necklace constructed from 925 silver. The pendant features a central oval cabochon of Blue John fluorite, displaying characteristic purple, grey, and creamy white banding. There is a small, natural dark inclusion or vug visible on the left side of the cabochon. The stone is secured in a rub-over setting, surrounded by an ornate openwork frame with a scalloped edge and small spherical bead accents. The pendant is suspended from a tapered, ribbed bail which shows markings, though these are not clearly legible. The necklace comprises a fine, flexible snake chain.
Condition report:
The item is in good vintage condition. The silver metalwork shows a natural patina and visible tarnishing, particularly within the recesses of the decorative frame. The gemstone is securely set; the aforementioned dark inclusion is a natural feature of the mineral.
