A sterling silver specimen vase of trumpet form by the renowned makers William Hutton and Sons Ltd. The item is manufactured from 925 silver and features a flared, undulating wavy rim above a tapering conical body. The vessel terminates in a knopped and stepped circular foot. The base is weighted with a non-precious material for stability. The side of the body is struck with a clear set of English hallmarks: the maker mark W.H for William Hutton and Sons Ltd, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor symbol for the Birmingham assay office, and the date letter m corresponding to the year 1911.
Condition report:
The vase exhibits wear consistent with its age and use. There are surface scratches and areas of tarnish throughout the silver. Visible pitting and oxidisation are present to the interior of the flared rim. The weighted base is intact and the piece stands level. No significant dents or signs of previous repair were observed.
