Lot 189: Christine Gittins Studio Pottery Smoke-Fired Burnished Earthenware Vessel

A wheel-thrown earthenware vessel by the artist Christine Gittins, featuring a broad globular body tapering into a long, slender neck. The unglazed surface has been highly burnished to a smooth finish and decorated using a smoke-firing technique, resulting in fine, carbonised wispy lines and soft grey-to-black mottling across the pale clay body. The base is impressed with the maker’s mark, consisting of a circular stamp with a stylised C encircling a G.
