A United Kingdom Proof Coin Collection issued by the Royal Mint in 1984. The set comprises a collection of proof coins struck in nickel-brass, cupro-nickel, and bronze denominations. The coins are presented in the original dark blue hardshell folding case with a blue plush interior and a transparent protective display insert. A square metallic plaque is mounted at the top centre of the display, featuring a crown and the inscription Elizabeth R 1984. Reverse designs represented in the set include the Scottish thistle one pound, Britannia fifty pence, Tudor rose twenty pence, crowned lion ten pence, crowned thistle five pence, Prince of Wales’ feathers two pence, portcullis one penny, and crowned half penny. This collection includes the final year of issue for the decimal half penny. The set is accompanied by the original Royal Mint informational card with a purple border.
Condition report:
The coins are in proof condition as issued. Distinct iridescent toning is visible on the cupro-nickel denominations, most notably on the fifty pence piece. The presentation case and informational card remain in good condition with only minor evidence of shelf wear and handling.
