The obverse displays a centrally positioned walking lion with the text UNITED STATES OF AMERICA inscribed in an arc above. The top edge of the rectangular bar is marked SILVER BULLION. To the right of the lion, a small box contains the fineness mark .999 FINE SILVER. The lower portion includes the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST, and the bottom edge is inscribed with ONE GRAM flanked by the numeral 1 in each corner.
