A Bank of England Ten Shilling banknote, Series A (Mauve), issued during the tenure of Chief Cashier Kenneth Oswald Peppiatt (1934 to 1949). The obverse features a seated Britannia vignette within an ornate frame to the left and the denomination 10 SHILLINGS within a geometric medallion to the right. The text includes the promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of ten shillings. The signature of K. O. Peppiatt is positioned at the lower right above the title Chief Cashier. The reverse displays elaborate mauve acanthus leaf scrollwork with two green medallions containing the 10/- denomination. The banknote is printed in shades of mauve and brown on cream-coloured paper. It bears the serial number X67D 583860 in the upper right and lower left. This issue is catalogued as Pick 366.


Condition report:

Extremely Fine (EF). The note displays a single sharp vertical centre fold and sharp corners. The paper remains crisp with no visible pinholes, tears, or significant stains. Centring is even across all margins.
