A cast iron doorstop, or door porter, realistically modelled as a seated Border Collie with a characteristic black and white coat. The figure is positioned upon a decorative, semi-circular tiered plinth base, featuring a central anthemion leaf motif and gadrooned detailing to the bottom edge. The doorstop is finished in polychrome paint, with a cream/off-white chest and facial blaze, black body, and brown eyes. The base is finished in a dark reddish-brown with gold-coloured highlights to the decorative mouldings. The item features a flat reverse, designed to sit flush against a door. There are no visible maker’s marks, model numbers, or foundry stamps.

Condition report:
The item is in used condition with signs of age-appropriate wear. There is significant paint loss and chipping throughout, most notably on the dog\'s nose, ears, tail, and along the edges of the base. The flat reverse shows surface oxidation and pitting consistent with a cast iron object of this age. There are no apparent structural cracks or repairs.
