A lot consisting of two vintage hand tools of English manufacture by Woden. The first item is a No. 6 fore plane featuring a cast iron body with a black japanned finish. The bed behind the frog is cast in relief with the designation No 6. The rear wooden tote and front knob are finished with a high-gloss varnish; the tote retains a circular yellow and red manufacturer sticker reading WODEN MADE IN ENGLAND. The cutting iron and cap iron assembly are present but are currently detached from the main body. The second item is a hand-operated ratchet brace. The frame is constructed from chrome-plated steel, stamped on the arm with the maker mark WODEN, the origin MADE IN ENGLAND, and the sweep size 10 IN. It is fitted with a black synthetic or ebonised head and centre grip. The tool features a knurled metal chuck and a ratchet mechanism.
Brace sweep: 10 inches.
Condition report:
The plane body shows some loss to the black japanning and areas of light surface oxidation. The wooden components show wear consistent with age and use to the varnished surfaces. The brace exhibits pitting and significant wear to the chrome plating throughout the frame. The black grips remain intact. All mechanical components appear complete; however, the functionality of the ratchet and chuck has not been tested.
