A vintage Phantom brand child’s chain-driven tricycle constructed with a tubular steel frame and wire-spoked wheels featuring solid rubber tyres. The tricycle is designed with a padded red vinyl-covered seat and a central pedal crank assembly that operates the rear axle via a chain drive. The handlebars include a hand-operated lever for a front-wheel caliper rim brake. Identifiable markings include a large stylised Phantom decal on the main frame and a graphic decal on the head tube featuring a yellow and red skull-and-crossbones with the letters PHAN above and CY below.
Condition report:
The item is in a heavily weathered barn-find state. Significant surface oxidation and rust are present across the tubular steel frame and wheels. The original red and silver-grey paint is heavily chipped, faded, and worn throughout. The solid rubber tyres are perished and exhibit extensive cracking. The red vinyl seat remains intact but shows heavy soiling and age-related wear. The right-side handlebar grip is missing. Mechanical components including the chain, pedals, and brake assembly are heavily rusted and require full restoration for functional use.
