A 15-piece mid-century porcelain coffee set manufactured by Johann Seltmann Vohenstrauß in Bavaria, Germany. The set is finished with an all-over gold lustre glaze to the exterior surfaces, contrasted by a white glazed interior. The service comprises a lidded coffee pot, a lidded sugar bowl, a cream jug, six cups, and six saucers. The design features modernist forms with tapered bodies and stylized angular handles. The base of the pieces bears a printed manufacturer mark consisting of a crown symbol above the word BAVARIA, with the names Johann Seltmann and Vohenstrauß in script below. The mark further includes the word Foreign and the numeral 22. This set was produced for the export market, likely dating to the 1950s or 1960s.
Condition report:
The set is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is evidence of minor surface wear and light rubbing to the gold lustre finish, which is consistent with the age and nature of lustre-decorated ceramics. Minor smudging and fingerprints are visible on the metallic surfaces.
