A collection of The 50th Anniversary World War II Commemorative Covers produced by the Danbury Mint. The lot is presented in a dedicated blue multi-ring binder containing numerous illustrated philatelic covers, each accompanied by a descriptive historical information card. The collection features vintage postage stamps relevant to the events described, including a German 1944 12+8 pfennig semi-postal stamp and an Italian 1992 750-lire commemorative. Each cover bears a circular date stamp cancellation from the relevant geographic region, timed to the exact 50th anniversary of the historical event, with postmark dates ranging from 1991 to 1995. Key milestones represented include the German mobilisation of the labour force, Operation Winter Storm in Russia, and the first US air raid on the Italian mainland. The covers are preserved in individual plastic sleeves.
Condition report:
The binder exhibits minor external shelf wear and surface scuffing to the boards and spine. The internal multi-ring mechanism is fully functional. The commemorative covers and information cards remain in good order, showing minimal signs of toning or handling wear. Cancellations are generally clear and legible. Stamps appear to be in fine to very fine condition with intact perforations.
