Lot 374: A Trio of Vintage Walking Sticks and a Rustic Wood Staff
This lot comprises three vintage walking sticks of varying styles and materials. The first is a light-coloured wooden walking stick featuring a Derby-style handle with a prominent grain and a shaft decorated with ring-turned segments. It is finished with a brass-toned metal collar and a large black rubber ferrule. The second is a dark-stained hardwood walking stick fitted with a reddish-brown translucent synthetic Derby-style handle, possibly made of acrylic or celluloid. The brass-toned collar is applied with a gold-coloured label for the brand Surefit. It is fitted with a black rubber ferrule. The third item is a rustic natural wood walking staff, possibly ash or hazel, with the bark texture and natural knots preserved. The handle is formed from an integral natural wood knob and the shaft includes a leather wrist strap. The base is fitted with a tapered metal ferrule.
Approximate lengths:
Turned wooden stick: 90 cm
Dark stained Surefit stick: 92 cm
Rustic wood staff: 125 cm.
Condition report:
The items are in good used condition overall. The rustic staff shows natural weathering and irregularities consistent with its style. The two handled sticks exhibit minor surface wear, scuffs to the shafts, and light tarnishing to the metal collars from typical use. The rubber ferrules show signs of wear.
