A 20th-century decorative figurine manufactured from a composite material, likely cold-cast resin, with a dark bronze-effect patina. The sculpture depicts characters from the Charles Dickens novel David Copperfield, featuring a tall gentleman in a top hat and frock coat, identified as Mr. Micawber, standing beside the young David Copperfield. The figures are set upon an integral rectangular base modelled in the form of a bound book. The front edge of the base, representing the book spine, is incised with the title David Copperfield. The work is rendered in a traditional illustrative style. No artist signatures, foundry stamps, or maker marks are visible.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good overall condition. There is evidence of minor surface wear and a light accumulation of dust within the recessed areas of the casting. Some minor rubbing is present on the patinated finish at the sharpest edges and corners of the base and figures.
