A United Kingdom silver proof crown issued by the Royal Mint in 1990 to commemorate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The coin is struck in sterling silver with a proof finish, characterised by mirrored fields and frosted relief. The reverse design features a stylised monogram of two interlaced ‘E’s surrounded by a composite floral spray comprising a rose, thistle, and leek, all surmounted by a crown. The legend reads QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER with the dates 1900 and 1990. The obverse features the third definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf. This issue was the first commemorative crown to carry the five pound face value. The coin is presented in its original navy blue velvet-lined case, protected within a clear acrylic capsule and accompanied by the official Certificate of Authenticity.
