A 925 silver locket ring, traditionally known as a poison ring, featuring a circular hinged secret compartment. The lid is centred with a faceted oval-cut purple gemstone, bezel-set within an ornate field of filigree-style wirework scrolls and granulation. The decorative scheme is further accented by four raised circular bosses in a contrasting copper-toned metal. The exterior walls of the compartment and the tapering ring shank are heavily decorated with multiple rows of silver beadwork and twisted wire patterns. The lid is secured with a functional hinged latch mechanism. Stamped marks are visible on the inner rim of the lid but are too worn to be definitively identified.
Condition report:
The ring is in good vintage condition. The silver surfaces exhibit a heavy natural patina and tarnish throughout. The hinge and latch mechanism are fully functional and secure. The gemstone appears securely set with minor surface wear consistent with age and use.
