Lot 264: A Set of Medieval Style Cast Metal Figurative Chess Pieces and Decorative Board

This set comprises cast metal figurative chess pieces in contrasting gold and silver tones, accompanied by a square decorative playing board. The board is constructed with a raised metal frame featuring scrolled feet at each corner and an inset playing surface of gold-toned and dark brown squares, decorated with etched scrollwork patterns. The figurative pieces depict medieval characters including kings and queens in royal robes, bishops as clerics, knights on horseback, rooks as turreted towers, and pawns as infantry soldiers. Based on visual characteristics, this set is in the style of mid-20th century European decorative game sets, such as those produced by Manopoulos or various Italian manufacturers. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the board or the bases of the pieces.
