A Victorian sterling silver pedestal bowl of small proportions, constructed from 925 silver. The design features a flared rim with a distinct central horizontal moulding, mounted upon a circular spreading foot. At the junction between the bowl and the foot are three applied decorative motifs shaped as stylised leaves or shells. The outer body bears a full set of British hallmarks comprising the maker mark WL&S in a lozenge for William Leuchars and Son, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant sterling mark, the date letter L for 1860, and the Queen Victoria duty mark. The rim is engraved with a partial inscription including the word VASE.
Weight: 80.84 grams.
Condition report:
The silver displays significant surface tarnish across the body and interior. There are several small indentations and dings visible on the rim and the lower portion of the bowl. The foot remains stable but shows minor surface scratches consistent with age. No signs of soldering or historical repairs are observed.
