Buyer's Premium:

A collection of silver proof coins issued by The Royal Mint in 2008. This lot comprises two complete series of United Kingdom decimal coinage, representing a transitional year in British numismatic design. The first series features the Emblems of Britain reverse designs, while the second series features the contemporary Royal Shield of Arms designs by Matthew Dent. Each series includes the One Pound, Fifty Pence, Twenty Pence, Ten Pence, Five Pence, Two Pence, and One Penny denominations. All coins are struck in sterling silver with a proof finish, characterised by mirrored fields and frosted devices. The collection is housed in two transparent acrylic holders within a black leatherette presentation case and is accompanied by two informative booklets. Reverse inscriptions denote the respective denominations and the 2008 year of issue. This set is notable for containing both the final issue of the traditional coinage designs and the inaugural issue of the shield designs.

Condition report:

The coins are in as-issued proof condition, exhibiting high lustre with no visible evidence of wear, toning, or handling marks on the mirrored fields or frosted relief. The presentation case and booklets are in excellent state with only negligible shelf wear.
