A pair of figural egg cups modelled in the form of mallard ducks. The items are crafted from glazed earthenware and decorated with hand-painted glazes in a naturalistic palette. The mallards feature bright green heads, white neck rings, mottled brown breasts, and green and brown plumage with blue accents to the tail feathers. The pieces are finished with a high-gloss glaze. No maker marks, backstamps, or labels are visible on either item. The style and decoration are consistent with mid-20th-century novelty kitchenware produced in Britain or Continental Europe.
Condition report:
Both items are in good overall condition. There is visible fine crazing to the glaze throughout, which is characteristic of earthenware of this type and age. No chips, cracks, or repairs are evident.
