A pair of traditional English lace-up clogs in the Lancashire style. The uppers are constructed from smooth mid-to-dark brown leather in a derby-style design, featuring four pairs of brass-toned eyelets and coordinating brown laces. The leather is fastened to the carved natural light wood soles with a series of decorative brass-toned metal studs. The soles feature an integrated low block heel and are fitted with black rubber composite outsoles for traction and protection of the wooden base. This lot is accompanied by a printed informational flyer from the Halliwell Local History Society, which details the historical introduction of clogs to the United Kingdom by Flemish weavers and their development in the North West of England. The items are presented in a plain blue cardboard box.
Heel Height: Approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm).
Condition report:
The clogs are in excellent condition and appear to be largely unworn. The leather is supple with only minimal creasing from storage. The carved wooden soles exhibit some very minor surface scuffs consistent with handling, and the rubber outsoles show no visible wear.
