This lot comprises a full-size mahogany-finished snooker table and a matching shadowless billiard shade, both manufactured by Burroughes & Watts Ltd. The table frame is fitted with a central white and red plaque identifying the maker as Burroughes & Watts Ltd of 19 Soho Square, London, W.1, and specifying the inclusion of the new Arrowflite Cushion. The table is supported by eight substantial bulbous-turned legs featuring carved vertical and diagonal fluting. The playing surface is fitted with a green baize cloth and traditional white net pockets with tan leather-bound covers. Brass-mounted rests and cue hooks are attached to the frame. The accompanying large green-painted metal shade features a decorative gold fringe. A manufacturing plaque on the shade identifies it as the Shadowless Billiard Shade, Patent No. 243996, manufactured by Burroughes & Watts Ltd and supplied by Orme & Sons Ltd, The Parsonage, Manchester. The interior of the shade is finished in a lighter green paint. Accessories include a set of snooker balls, a wooden triangle, and several cues.
Condition report:
The snooker table and shade are in good overall condition. The mahogany woodwork shows minor surface scuffs and light wear consistent with age and use. The green baize surface appears well-maintained with no significant tears or staining visible. The net pockets and leather covers show typical signs of use but remain intact. The metal shade shows minor surface marks and some spotting to the interior paintwork.
