A George V 925 silver novelty sugar nip designed in the form of a bird’s wishbone. The item features two curved arms joined by a spring-loaded pivot and terminates in small oval spoon-shaped bowls. The interior of one bowl is struck with a set of English hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office, comprising the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor, and the date letter p for the year 1914. It also bears the maker’s mark L and S for the Birmingham firm Levi and Salaman, who were noted for producing silver novelties during this period.
