This lot comprises two vintage portable electronic devices: an ITT KB Junior transistor radio and an Olympus microcassette recorder. The ITT KB Junior radio is housed in a cream-coloured plastic cabinet with a red plastic carrying handle and a perforated silver-toned metal speaker grille. The horizontal slide-rule tuning dial covers two bands, L.W (Long Wave) and M.W (Medium Wave), and features various station markings including luxembourg, BBC 2, europe 1, allouis, BBC3, BBC1, london, lux., midl’nd.west wales scotland, and athlone. The dial is marked MADE IN HONG KONG at the bottom right. A silver and black badge at the bottom right of the grille reads ITT KB JUNIOR. The second item is an Olympus Pearlcorder S713 microcassette recorder in a silver-toned plastic case. The front is marked with OLYMPUS, VCVA VOICE ACTIVATED, and Pearlcorder S713 MICROCASSETTE RECORDER. It includes a built-in speaker and a three-digit mechanical tape counter visible through a small window.
Condition report:
Both items are in used condition and show signs of age. The ITT KB Junior radio has a noticeable dent in the centre of the metal speaker grille and some surface discolouration and scuffing to the plastic housing. The Olympus Pearlcorder S713 shows surface wear and minor scuffing consistent with regular use. Lot stickers numbered 1061 and 1991 are affixed to the radio and recorder respectively. The functional status of both devices is untested.
