Lot 130: A Collection of Five Pieces of Decorative Glassware and Cut Crystal
This lot comprises five items of decorative glassware. It includes three small stemmed glasses, likely intended for liqueur or fortified wine. Each glass features a conical bowl decorated with multiple thin horizontal gilt bands and a solid gilt rim. The bowls are supported by knopped baluster-style stems resting on plain circular feet, which are finished with matching gilt-lined rims. Also included are two small flared vases crafted from lead crystal, possibly designed as toothpick or match holders. These vases feature deep geometric mitre and diamond-point cutting to the bodies, with serrated scalloped rims and star-cut bases. The style and construction are consistent with mid-20th-century British or Bohemian production. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are present on any of the pieces.
Condition report:
The three stemmed glasses exhibit surface dust and an overall cloudiness to the glass. One of the cut-crystal vases shows a small area of brownish residue or staining to the interior. The serrated rims and mitre cuts appear generally intact, although minor flea bites or micro-chips consistent with age and handled use may be present upon close inspection. There is some minor surface wear to the gilt decoration on the stemmed glasses.
