A silver poison or locket ring featuring a hinged circular compartment, designed in a traditional Balinese style with intricate metalwork. The lid is inset with a central oval-cut purple gemstone, likely an amethyst, held in a bezel setting. The decorative top is further embellished with silver filigree scrolls, tiered granulation, and two convex gold-toned metal accents. The hinged lid is secured by a small loop-and-peg style clasp. The broad shank features matching decorative borders of granulation and rope-twist wirework. The interior of the compartment and the underside of the lid show the metal’s natural finish. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible.
Condition report:
The ring shows signs of wear consistent with age. There is significant surface tarnish and oxidation, particularly in the recessed areas of the filigree and granulation. The hinge and clasp are functional. The gemstone is secure in its setting.
