A 20th-century rocking chair of traditional form, constructed from stained hardwood with a dark reddish-brown finish. The chair features a high spindle-back with a shaped crest rail featuring a pressed foliate and pineapple motif. The back is composed of seven vertical spindles flanked by larger turned supports. It has shaped, out-swept armrests on turned supports leading to a solid, shaped wooden seat. The chair is raised on four turned legs connected by H-form stretchers, set upon twin curved rockers.
Condition report:
The chair is in fair to good used condition. There is noticeable wear to the finish, particularly on the leading edges of the armrests and across the seat surface. The seat shows scuffing and white surface marks. The overall structure appears sound and consistent with age and functional use.
