An oil on canvas portrait depicting a young boy at a desk, executed as a contemporary copy after the 1655 work Titus at his Desk by Rembrandt van Rijn. The composition features a central figure in a pensive pose, leaning over a desk while writing or drawing, illuminated by a focused light source from the upper left in a classic chiaroscuro style. The work is signed W Marks and dated 20 10 in the lower right corner. The canvas is mounted within a heavy, rustic hand-carved wooden frame with a dark stained finish and scalloped outer edges. The canvas is secured to the frame by six large, decorative blackened metal studs positioned around the perimeter.

Condition report:
There is a small area of paint loss and surface abrasion at the top centre of the subject\'s head. The painted surface shows a light accumulation of dust and surface dirt.
