A pair of vintage Lieberman and Gortz Vista model prismatic binoculars with 16×50 specifications. The instruments feature a traditional porro prism design with a black pebble-grain textured body and black-finished metal fittings. The binoculars are equipped with a central focusing wheel and adjustable eyepieces. The right eyepiece plate is marked Lieberman and Gortz and the left plate is marked 16 x 50 Vista Prismatic. The central hinge cap is also marked 16×50. The binoculars are housed in a fitted brown leather carrying case with a burgundy velvet-style lining and a leather shoulder strap. The exterior of the case is embossed Made in England. One leather-tethered lens cap is present.
Condition report:
The binoculars exhibit moderate wear consistent with age and field use. There is noticeable loss to the black lacquer finish on the metal components, particularly around the eyepieces and hinges. The pebble-grain covering shows light surface wear but remains securely attached. The leather case displays scuffing, surface scratches, and general wear to the strap and buckle. The optics appear clear upon visual inspection, though internal dust or minor clouding may be present.
