A Maling pottery lustreware ceramic vase of tapering, horizontally ribbed form with a slightly flared base. The exterior features relief-moulded and hand-painted floral decoration in the Blossom pattern, depicting pink flowers with green stems and leaves against a cream ground. The piece is finished in a characteristic iridescent lustre glaze. The base bears a printed manufacturer mark in brown ink featuring a central stylized castle gatehouse emblem, inscribed MALING, NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE, ENGLAND and ESTD 1762.

Condition report:
There is a visible hairline crack extending downwards from the top rim. The surface displays minor wear and light crazing consistent with age and the nature of the glaze.
